Dr. Ursula Kuhar is Director and Assistant Professor of Arts Management at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. Since her arrival, she has redesigned curriculum and developed courses, including a week-long intensive course in New York City. Under Kuhar’s leadership, the program’s enrollment has grown by 70%. The program is also a recent recipient of a Mellon Foundation Officer’s Grant for development in interdisciplinary and practicum-based pedagogy. Prior to this appointment, she was on the faculty of the Arts Administration program at Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Before entering academia, Kuhar worked in the development departments of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir and Community Hospital Foundation of Indianapolis, and is a former secondary school music teacher.Kuhar holds a BS in Arts Administration and a MM in Music Education with honors from Butler University. In 2011, she graduated with a DM in Voice from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. A mezzo-soprano, she has extensively performed throughout Europe and the Americas and is a recent Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Regional Finalist.
