M. Michelle Illuminato
M. Michelle Illuminato creates events, public-exchanges, and artworks to help reveal the complicated and often contradictory relationship between people, their culture and the land they live on. She often works with the collective next question and counts her Key to the City of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, as her most treasured public award.
Illuminato exhibits nationally and internationally and recently she was an artist-in-resident at the Internationales Waldkunst Zentrum and the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Recent exhibitions include "Tripoli Street BakeYard," Pittsburgh; "Lost & Found Factory," Pittsburgh; "The Neighborhood Revisited," a trolley tour to places Mister Rogers took us; "The Spectacular Auction of Yet-To-Be-Made Art," PICA, TBA Festival, Portland, Ore.; "Pop Rocks," Strohl Art Center, Chautauqua Institute, NY; and "Lenz," Vogelfrei 10, Darmstadt, Germany.
