Since 2006, NCSL and Americans for the Arts have partnered to present a state legislator with an award for State Arts Leadership at NCSL’s annual conference each year. In addition, every third year, NCSL debates and renews a policy statement on the arts and culture; this year, NCSL’S Labor and Economic Development Committee adopted their 2014 Arts and Culture Policy Position. Americans for the Arts has fostered partnerships in the public sector for over 25 years because it believes that such partners, like NSCL, are essential for promoting successful arts funding and policy nationwide.
