What will you do to join the National celebration?

The greatest month of the year is upon us - National Arts & Humanities Month!

National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) is a coast-to-coast collective recognition of the importance of culture in America. It is designed to encourage all Americans to explore new facets of the arts and humanities in their lives, and to begin a lifelong habit of active participation in the arts. Every year since 1993, the White House issues a proclamation recognizing National Arts & Humanities Month. The U.S. Conference of Mayors and many states and communities throughout the country also issue annual proclamations.

One of the many ways you can celebrate and honor the arts and humanities in your local city or town this month is by securing your own mayoral proclaimation - use our sample proclamation and customize to your area!

We also offer many resources for planning or attending your own NAHM event this October on our National Arts and Humanities Month webpages. Check them out for information on our National Arts Meet Calendar, which lists NAHM events going on across the country, on Creative Conversations, and more!

This year, we are also celebrating with an instagram campaign! Snap a photo of your art - art you've created or simply art you appreciate - and use the hashtag #ShowYourArt to join the national conversation!
